With five kids, six goats and a small business where she develops her own soaps, lotions and bath products, Vanessa Wodtke has her hands full. The first entrepreneur in her family, Vanessa opened up Bloom Wild online to sell all natural products that she made by hand to the sound of rock music in the family barn.
She started her business with nothing but goats’ milk and a passion for developing bath and beauty products without the petroleum she found in manufactured brands. What she didn’t know was that she’d spend 15 hours or more a week updating her accounting software for every single transaction. It kept her away from what she loved about her business – product development and her customers. She almost gave up on her business because it took so much time.
“I’m passionate about my business. The accounting and financials are not where I want to spend my time,” Wodtke says.
When a friend told Vanessa about the Square reader, a device that would enable her to accept credit cards as payment, she was excited. When she discovered Sync with Square – an application that integrates her Square account with her existing QuickBooks Online account — she was even more excited.
